Today I'm a little sad. Not for bad reasons, though. I just had such an utterly fantastic long weekend that I'm slightly disappointed that I have to return to my "real life."
We had a friend visiting us for the weekend, a total sweetheart that we met at the White Party in April. So naturally we were out and about all weekend, showing him the best of WeHo nightlife, and trying to stay cool (with varying degrees of success) in the hot weather. We went to the beach, went out to dinner at Marix and Fat Fish, had breakfast at Toast, went hiking at Runyan Canyon, went out dancing until the wee hours at Avalon, went to an all-boy July 4 pool party up in the Hills (where it was a special thrill to show the out-of-towner the room where the host's Emmys were displayed), had fun with many of my favorite people and hit a number of local drinking establishments. I am, of course, utterly exhausted now.
If only the weekend's events really were my real life. I suppose in some way that they are, at least occasionally. No, no regrets. Even my usual day-to-day reality and workweek drudgery are, I have to say, pretty damn good. But man, did I have a fantastic weekend.
