I didn't want to bitch about the weather, which accomplishes nothing and is rather tiresome. But I must point out that I'm suffering through L.A.'s hideous heat wave with no air conditioning in either my house or my car; the heat is driving me insane. Last night was the first night that Joey and I couldn't take it any more. We spent the night in what used to be our house's detached single car garage, and was converted by the previous owner into a guest room/office, which mercifully does have a window unit. It was almost like retreating to a fall-out shelter during desperate times.

What else? In a cruel trick played on me by fate, my abs are bangin' but I can't longer take my shirt off in public because of a rather hideous and strange skin condition which I am blaming on the weather. And it's really getting me down. The Great Body Reclamation Project of 2006 is on hold because I can't face changing or showering in the locker room during my usual lunchtime workouts (and because going to the gym in the morning in the current weather would mean sweating through my work clothes when driving to work; see my previous note about no AC in home or car). It's that bad, and it really is making me quite depressed.
Anyway, despite all that I had a fun weekend. Game night, three parties and a few hours at the beach (yes, with my shirt on). I did a lot of baking in preparation for Saturday night at the Hollywood Bowl; I'm making a big ole southern picnic, and knocked out a chess pie, a couple of sweet potato pies and some cornbread.
